HOT ROLLING METHOD FOR PREVENTING SURFACE CRACK OF INGOT

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of edge crack and surface crack in direct feed rolling or direct rolling by subjecting a steel ingot or billet to specific cross rolling reduction then rolling the same while exerting pressing force thereto. CONSTITUTION:The steel ingot or billet in the direct feed rolling or direct rolling is first subjected to cross rolling reduction at >=5mm on one side and is then rolled while the pushing force is exerted thereto. Namely, the edge crack is prevented by controlling the cross rolling reduction. The material is thereafter rolled while the pressing force is exerted thereto to prevent the surface crack.
