PURPOSE:To restrain adhesion and formation of unburned combustibles and attain stabilized slow combustion and further improve stillness by forming, on an inner wall of a heat shield including a fuel reserving chamber, a layer of catalytic metal which burns injection fuel through oxidation combustion. CONSTITUTION:A catalytic metal layer 11 is formed so as to cover an inner wall 5a of a heat shield 5 including a fuel reserving chamber 10, when the temperature of atmosphere in a vortical combustion chamber 2 rises above 250 deg.C, said metal layer supplies O2 to burn the reserved or injection fuel positively through oxidation combustion. This prevents the fuel reserving chamber 10 from being blocked with unburned oxide. Thus, fuel in the reserving chamber 10 is burned through evaporation in a range of the whole engine load so that an ignition lag and sudden rise of pressure in the combustion chamber are restrained. Then slow combustion is attained and the efficiency of combustion is improved and further quiet Diesel combustion chamber can be obtained.
