The present invention relates to an electrical switching apparatus which switches on electrical loads in the evening hours as the darkness deepens and switches said loads off again after a time duration which is defined in an arbitrary manner and differs from day to day. It is thus intended to simulate use of a dwelling which is empty, for example during holidays.
