PURPOSE:To prevent a printing head from increasing in temperature without lowering a printing throughput, by completing an one block printing by a method wherein a printing head is driven N times as fast as the usual printing velocity by a velocity control means and on the other hand it is reciprocated with a printing data for one block divided into N parts. CONSTITUTION:If a comparator 3 detects the temperature of the printing head 1 above a fixed temperature, a spacing velocity control part 5 for a printing head 1 actuates a double-velocity drive part 6 to establish a double spacing according to the output from the comparator 3. As a result, a space motor (a) is driven at a double-velocity through a space motor drive part 7 to obtain a cooling effect according to the spacing velocity V. On the other hand, if the comparator 3 detects the temperature of the printing head 1 above a fixed temperature, a double-typing switch circuit 8 actuates to divide the printing data for one block stored in a storage buffer 9 into two data through an odd- line fetch circuit 10 and an even-line fetch circuit 11, whereby a printing is carried out with the data divided into two parts at a double velocity by one reciprocation of the printing head. |
