Novel thioether containing mercaptocarboxylic acids are prepared by the free radical addition of a polythiol, (HS)xR, wherein R is an organic moiety with the valence of x and x is two or more, across the double bond of an unsaturated carboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of acrylic, methacrylic, itaconic and maleic at a temperature in the range of about 40 to 200 DEG C. These thioether compounds improve the water developability and adhesiveness in photocurable compositions. |
