PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts and the weight, in an oil strainer assembling device for an automatic transmission of an F.F vehicle, by forming an oil sump directly in the lower wall of a trans axle case then mounting an oil strainer from the jointing face with the trans axle housing. CONSTITUTION:Automatic transmission 1 is provided with a trans axle case 2 to be jointed at the jointing faces 2a, 3a and the trans axle housing 3. While an oil sump 5 is formed by the lower walls 2f, 3b of the case 2 and the housing 3. An oil path 6 communicating with an oil pump 7 is formed in the partition wall 2c of the case 2 to make a hole 10 for mounting an oil strainer communicated with said oil path 6. Furthermore, an oil drain plug 12 is screwed to the lower wall 2f of the case 2. Ten the delivery tube 11a of oil strainer 11 is fitted to said hole 10 to assemble the oil strainer 11 while pressure supporting the underface of strainer 11 by means of the drain plug 12.
