PURPOSE:An agricultural and horticultural blight controller showing improved controlling effect especially on blast of rice plant, an important blight of paddy rice plant with a small application amount free from phytotoxicity to rice plant, comprising a specific N-phenylsulfonylbenzamide derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The titled controller containing an N-phenylsulfonylbenzamide derivative shown by the formula I (X is H, halogen, nitro, or lower alkoxy; Y is H, halogen, nitro, amino, acetylamino, carboxyl, or lower alkyl; n and m are 1- 5) or its salt. The compound shown by the formula I is easily obtained by reacting a benzenesulfonamide derivative shown by the formula II with a benzoic acid halide derivative shown by the formula III (Z is halogen). The compound is directly processed, or blended with a carrier or auxiliary and processed into wettable power, dust, emulsion, etc., directly applied to crops requiring blight control, and can be applied to growth environments of crops on the surface of the water or on the surface of soil.
