The present invention relates to a method of preparing mam group boryl compounds of formula (I) by reacting mam group hydrides of formula (II) with hydroboratmg reagents of formula (III) in the presence of a transition metal catalyst wherein E is a mam group element of Group 14, Group 15 or Group 16 of the periodic table Pmacolborane and catecholborane are among the preferred group III hydroboratmg reagents.
