A column spacer for controlling cell gap and an LCD using the same are provided to make the cell gap uniform, thereby preventing various defects due to defective cell gap, by forming the column spacer of a material having a high recovery ratio. A column spacer for controlling cell gap has the sum total of inelastic deformation and elastic deformation ranging from 1 to 3 micrometers. The column spacer has a recovery ratio of 50 percents or more. The column spacer is formed by photo-polymerizing a mixed solution of a liquid polymer precursor and a light initiator. The liquid polymer precursor includes a monoacrylate series of 10 to 20 percents, a triacrylate series of 10 to 20 percents, and a methacrylate series of 40 to 60 percents. |
