The invention relates to a presentation and sales system which makes it possible for any number of people in self-service to select and withdraw the desired article from a large number of different articles at different prices. Depending on the type of operation, articles can both be withdrawn and added, the system registering these operations automatically and allocating and charging them to the causer without delay. The system supports the selection of the article by virtue of the fact that search terms can be input by customer, with the aid of which the system selects the desired article from the store and moves it to the withdrawal position. The system is used in particular where self-service was hitherto excluded on account of the smallness and variety of articles.
