<p>The invention relates to a process and device for producing black clay articles of the type of Terra Nigra. The articles are shaped from iron oxide-containing clay and exposed in a furnace to a temperature of about 1000 DEG C. They are then exposed in a furnace sealed gas-tight to a reduction process in a carbon-containing atmosphere. For the production, a synthetic clay produced by a mixing process is used. This clay is mixed with a binder which burns off at about 450 DEG C with a small ash residue. The furnace is sealed air-tight just below the sintering point of the clay material, and the carbon-containing reducing agent is fed to the combustion chamber. Subsequently, the articles are cooled in the furnace sealed air-tight, in particular under a heavy reducing atmosphere. <IMAGE></p> |
