A deflection fitting is described for a safety belt in a vehicle with a centre of rotation (3) which is fixed to the body or frame (1) of the vehicle and round which the deflection fitting (2) can rotate according to the direction in which the belt is pulled off. So that the belt is also perfectly guided at the moment of the accident in the new deflection fitting and the structure comprises a small number of parts which are economically favourable, not prone to malfunction and are safe, provision has been made according to the invention for an end stop (6) to be fastened to the deflection fitting (2) at a distance from the centre of rotation (3) and for the end stop (6) to be guided in a slot (8) which is mounted in a stationary fashion on the body or the frame (1) of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
