The invention relates to devices for grinding wire ropes and similar filament-like profile bodies, such as are used preferably as strength carriers, for example in force transmission belts and other elastomeric articles. According to the invention, such a device is designed as an elongate container with an abrasive filling, guides for pulling the profile bodies through being provided at the two container ends. With surprisingly simple constructional means, the invention ensures, on the other hand, an effective surface treatment of the material to be ground.
