The invention proposes a water pump whose functional unit is split into parts which can readily be separated from one another, namely a pump block and a pump holder, and which is manufactured entirely or partially of plastic, the connection of the individual parts to one another and of the overall pump to the engine block or thermostat connection and cooling water connections being implemented by means of so-called quick-release fasteners, so that assembly and dismantling are considerably simplified.
