PURPOSE:To safely measure a combustible gas and gaseous oxide without using gaseous H2 by measuring a sample gas by the electric signals generated on both sides of a solid electrolyte heated to a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:The combustible gas or gaseous oxygen compd. is supplied from a conduit 2 and an inert gas from a conduit 3 to a sepn. column 5 by a sampling value 1. The sample gas separated in the column 5 is supplied to the inside of a solid electrolyte sensor 6 provided with gas-permeable electrodes 6a, 6b in the inside and outside bottoms. Gas contg. gaseous oxygen is supplied to the outside of the sensor 6. The gaseous oxygen on the outside is ionized and exists in the sensor 6 and therefore the sample gas is oxidized by the chemical reaction and the ionic current in this stage is measured. The sample gas is supplied to the sensor 6 while a voltage is held impressed thereto if the sample gas is the gaseous oxygen compd. The sample gas is reduced in the electrode 6a and the ionic current generated by the reduction is measured. |
