A releasable coupling serves to hold arms for transmitting working movements. The coupling is intended to be arranged between a holding arm 2 and a carrier 1 of a handling device and comprises a safety switch 5, which are included in drive control circuitry. One part 6 of the coupling is mounted on the carrier, the other part 7 of the coupling is mounted on the arm 2. The parts 6, 7 are subjected to the influence of retaining means 19, 20, which hold stops 12 and counterstops 12 in engagement and, when loaded in excess of a threshold value, permit a relative movement between the parts 6, 7.
