Vehicle roof with a cover which in its closed position closes a roof opening in a fixed roof surface and which can be pivoted, starting from the closed position, about an axle lying near to its front edge by means of a swivel device and can be swivelled over the fixed roof surface with its rear edge and, if required, can be pushed back rearward over the fixed roof surface by means of a displacement device. The swivel device has at least one swivel lever which is pivotably and longitudinally displaceably guided with one end with respect to the cover. The swivel lever is mounted in the region of its other end so as to be rotatable about a pivot axle fixed to the roof. In addition, it is provided with a guide running in a longitudinal direction of the swivel lever, along which guide a driver can be displaced which has a drive connection to a driven thrust element of the swivel device. The driver is connected to the thrust element via a pivot lever which is coupled to the thrust element at a point lying at a distance from the driver (Fig. 4). <IMAGE>
