<p>The use of a material of empirical composition MgO (CO<Sub>2</Sub>)<Sub>b</Sub>(H<Sub>2</Sub>O)<Sub>c</Sub>, where b is any value in the range 0.5 to 1.1 and c is any value in the range 0 to 2, and which have an amorphous content of at least 75% by weight, as a filler and/or a fire retardant for a solid orfluid matrix, a solid orfluid matrix (in particular a plastics matrix) containing such a material as dispersed particles, the materials in defined particulate morphologies, some of the materials per se and a process for their preparation.</p> |
