<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a beta-imidated phenylhydrazine based compound useful as an intermediate for herbicides, insecticides and photographic couplers in high yield, by reacting a phenylhydrazine based compound with an acid anhydride in the presence of an acid. CONSTITUTION:A phenylhydrazine based compound (a salt, e.g. hydrochloride, may be formed) is reacted with an acid anhydride. Five min after starting the reaction, an acid, e.g. hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, hydrobromic acid or organic sulfonic acid, is added thereto. The amount of the acid to be added is preferably >=0.05mol, more preferably 0.05-2.0mol based on one mol raw material phenylhydrazine based compound.</p> |
