The equipment consists of a vacuum pump, stop valve which closes off the pump once the vacuum is reached, Pirano head to indicate the vacuum attained and check its reproducibility, mercury manometer and a system for melting the sample at a controlled temp. in order to completely liberate the gases present in the metal and for maintaining a vacuum seal to prevent interchange of gases.
