PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for intricate machining and to reduce cost by simultaneously forming a magnetic head core to one body, further sticking glass or resin member to a notched part and maintaining the spacing of a slit at a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The annular magnetic head core 1 is formed by molding the outside shape thereof at one time by, for example, powder molding, etc. and calcining the molding at a prescribed temp. More specifically, the greater part of the elements necessary for constituting the magnetic head including a curved surface shape 3 for a tape traveling surface, winding hole 2, a notch 4 for preventing stress concn. and deforming the core to the desired head, etc. are simultaneously molded. The slit 5 is formed to the position corresponding to the part where GL is disposed in this case. The GL size is controlled by depositing glass or SiO26 to the prescribed size and thickness on the surface facing the gap by wet plating or dry plating means such as sputtering.
