PURPOSE:To efficiently protect the lining of a vacuum degassing apparatus for molten steel using a refractory contg. carbon as the lining of the degassing tank by leading an inert gas to the rear side of the lining through the iron shell during degassing. CONSTITUTION:A refractory 5 contg. carbon is used as the lining of the degassing tank 6 of this vacuum degassing apparatus for molten steel. The degassing tank 6 is evacuated during degassing with the degassing apparatus, so air penetrates through microcracks and micropores in the refractory 5, (2) of an immersion pipe 1 and accelerates the oxidation of the refractory 5 contg. carbon. In order to inhibit oxidation and to protect the lining 5, an inert gas is led to the rear side of the lining 5 from a gas leading pipe 8 through the iron shell 4. |
