PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of noise in a special reproducing time even in a device which is not equipped with a wide head or a magnetic head with a free height adjustment by recording an information so as to set it to be equal with the trace angle of a rotating magnetic head in the special reproducing time. CONSTITUTION:A signal generating circuit 24, synchronizing with a switching pulse (SWP) outputted from a servo circuit 6, outputs a signal of almost sawtooth-shaped to a driving circuit 21. The height and direction of a sawtooth- shaped waveform is set so that a rotating head 4 is traced in a leftward direction by almost one track compared with an existing case (direction that a trace angle is made smaller). As a result, the angle of a recording track become theta0 that is almost equal with the trace angle theta0 to stop a magnetic tape 1 and to perform a still reproducing in the existing case. In reproducing, a detecting circuit 9 outputs a tracking error signal and so that the height of the rotating head 4 is controlled through a driving circuit 21, an amplifier circuit 22 and a control means 23, a recorded information can be exactly reproduced.
