PURPOSE:To ensure accuracy of a tapping screw, by providing a centering spring, brought into contact with a working member, in a tap holder inner cylinder and aligning a tap with the axial center of a prepared hole further vertically holding the tap. CONSTITUTION:A point end part 1' of a tap 1 is attached to a tap prepared hole 14 in a work 15 by holding a holding metal fixture 7 by one hand. A jig, slightly depressing the metal fixture 7, positions the tap point end part 1' to the tap prepared hole 14 by the action of a centering spring 4. Here a verticality holding surface 7' is brought into close contact with a surface 15' of the work. Next, a cap 8 is depressed and connected with a nut member 5. Under this condition, a tap handle 10 is turned, and the jig, vertically holding the center aligned tap 1, enables tapping to be accurately performed.
