TWO-DIMENSIONAL VESTIGIAL SIDE-BAND WAVE DEMODULATOR

PURPOSE:To increase the amount of information which can be transmitted in the same band by regenerating two different carriers from a two-dimensional vestigial side-band modulated signal and imposing demodulation on the basis of them. CONSTITUTION:The two-dimensional vestigial side-band modulated signal obtained by adding two linear vestigial side-band wave signals is inputted from an input terminal 1. A carrier recovery circuit 2 recovers two carriers from the two-dimensional vestigial side-band wave modulated signal. Those recovered carriers are detected synchronously by a synchronous detecting circuit 3. Those two synchronous detection outputs are decided by a decision circuit 4 by using characteristics of a partial response waveform and the decision result is processed by a logic circuit 5 to obtain two different modulated signals. Consequently, the amount of information which can be transmitted in the same band is increased as compared with conventional systems.
