PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording medium showing little reduction in density even in repeated printing with stable quality, by a method wherein one side of a heat-resistance base is coated with a heat-fusible ink, and the coated layer is irradiated with electron rays to provide a heat-fusible ink layer. CONSTITUTION:In preparing the heat-fusible ink composition, a natural wax, a synthetic wax or a thermoplastic resin having a softening or melting point of about 60-90 deg.C and ordinarily used as the heat-fusible component in a thermal transfer medium is used as a main constituent, to which a coloring agent such as carbon black, a pigment and a dye and a dispersant and other additives are added to prepare a base material, and a compound having a vinyl group, an acryloyl group or a methacryloyl group capable of being polymerized by irradiation with electron rays is added thereto to obtain the heat-fusible ink composition. The polymerizable component in the heat-fusible ink is polymerized to form a high molecular weight substance when being irradiated with electron rays. Accordingly, since the heat-fusible component is transferred only partially when printing is conducted by using the thermal transfer medium, repeated printing at the same part can be performed. |
