PURPOSE:To enhance the conversion efficiency of the higher harmonics generation by coupling two dielectric light guides for guiding a fundamental and its higher harmonics, respectively to each other and by making the effective refractive indexes of the guides equal. CONSTITUTION:Light guides 2, 3 for guiding a fundamental and its secondary harmonics, respectively are coupled to each other and arranged parallel, and the widths d1, d2 of the guides are regulated so that the effective refractive indexes of the guides are made equal. The fundamental and its harmonics are made qual in phase velocity and mutched in phase, so the conversion efficiency can be enhanced. |
