PURPOSE:To increase the durability as well as to enable color correction by combining a photoconductive layer having high sensitivity on the shorter wavelength side with an overcoat layer having a filter effect on the shorter wavelength side. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body consisting of an electrically conductive support 1 and a photoconductive Se-Te layer 2 is coated with an overcoat layer 3 of Si-rich SiC by ion plating. When the overcoat layer of Si-rich SiC is formed on the photosensitive body by ion plating, the SiC layer is formed by a reaction represented by equation I on the surface of the photosensitive body. Even when the concn. of gaseous C2H2 is low and the gas does not well react with Si ions, the resulting SiC is rich in Si, and in this case, a dense film structure can be formed and superior durability is provided. The Si-rich SiC layer is formed on the photoconductive layer 2 under such conditions. |
