The described scissor-type elevating platform can be positioned at any desired height in a jolt-free fashion, permits these heights and the movement characteristic to be changed as desired without modification to the machine and permits any number of units to be coupled synchronously to one another. The particular design of the force transmission in the lower dead centre permits substantially easier configuration of the drive and relieves the adjustment and guide elements of loading so that a longer service life can be expected. The heights at which the platform is to be positioned and the movement characteristic can be transmitted to the machine via remote data transmission so that the machine can also be easily integrated into various processing lines.
