PURPOSE:To obtain an electrical contact point material having low contact resistance and improved resistance to consumption and melt sticking by incorporating whiskers into a sintered alloy contg. Ag and Ni. CONSTITUTION:Whiskers of at least one kind of compound selected among the borides, nitrides and carbides of metals and metalloids are incorporated into an electrical contact point material made of a sintered alloy contg. Ag and Ni. Whiskers of LaB2, YB6, SiC, TiN or ZrN are preferably used. The whiskers have 10-50 aspect ratio and are arranged in the longitudinal direction. The resulting electrical contact point material consists of 5-40wt% Ni, 0.05-8wt% whiskers and the balance Ag.
