PURPOSE:To improve durability by configurating a device in such a way that the number of times that the characteristics of a suspension device have been switched over to the hard side during the specified distance of travel or the specified period of time, is compared with the specified range, then a running condition judgement reference level is subject to the correction based on the resultant described above in the suspension device, as referred to the titled, which has variable suspension characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A signal S from a running condition detecting means is compared by a comparison means, then is outputted to switch over the characteristics of a suspension device through a change-over means. At this moment, the number of times that the characteristics of the suspension device have been switched over to the hard side during the specified distance of travel or the specified period of time, is measured, and then is outputted to a change- over frequency judging circuit. If the frequency is found to be within the specified range by the judging circuit, a reference level is lowered through a correcting means for a running condition judgement reference level. If the frequency is found to be out of the specified one, the reference level is raised. This configuration improves the durability of the change-over device.
