A process and an apparatus for casting metal objects envisages that the molten metal be introduced into a casting mould (10), e.g. a permanent mould, by means of a crucible or casting ladle (16) under the action of gravity while simultaneously swivelling the mould. The casting mould (10) can be brought into a particular oblique position relative to the horizontal. The process is distinguished by the fact that the arrangement comprising casting mould (10) and the crucible (16) can be pivoted about a common axis by means of a table (2) which supports them. The pivoting motion is preferably performed in a programme-controlled manner. The casting mould (10) and the crucible (16) can be provided in a chamber (6) which is arranged on the table (2), accompanies their pivoting movement and can be evacuated or have a blanketing gas introduced into it. <IMAGE>
