PURPOSE:To perform painting without loss of time by painting an article once, then transferring the article by one pitch, conveying a next article to the painting position, executing flashing-off of the first coated article by setting, then feeding the first article once more to the painting line to execute second painting. CONSTITUTION:In the automatic painting of articles conveyed continuously by a conveyor, an article A on a line 11 is conveyed into a station 13 to execute first painting. Then, the painted article is transferred to a setting position 14, and a second article B is conveyed to the station 13. While executing first painting of the second article B, the first article A in the setting position 14 is transferred therefrom through an intermediate position 15 to a waiting position 16, where it is subjected to flashing off treatment. The article B having completed the first painting during the while is transferred to the setting position 14, and the article A is transferred to the station 13 to execute the second painting. By this method, articles to be painted is performed twice with one automatic painting machine in a short processing time without causing loss of time.
