PURPOSE:To prevent fluctuation of an output waveform due to mis-alignment is assembling a rotary disc by magnetizing the rotary disc over the entire circumference at a prescribed interval with excitation of an amorphous magnetic thin film of a magnetic head and obtaining the rotary angle of the rotary disc based on the Matteucci voltage from a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:In turning a rotary shaft 2, the magnetic flux interlinking an amorphous magnetic thin film 7 of the magnetic head 4 is changed by the magnetic pattern on the rotary disc 3. A pulse voltage rising suddenly when the magnetic flux is inverted, that is, the Matteucci voltage by the so-called Matteucci effect is obtained. The signal is amplified by the number of irradiant rays through the magnetic thin film 7 of the magnetic head 4 and a signal is produced between terminals 8a and 8b. It is possible to obtain a pulse voltage corresponding to the rotation of the rotary disc 3 by applying waveform shaping to the voltage signal. No alignment is required by assembling the rotary disc not magnetized yet as a rotary encoder, writing a magnetic pattern and detecting the rotary angle based on the pattern.
