ERROR RATE DISCRIMINATION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of ROMs in use by dividing the number of counted errors into plural groups of high-order and low-order digits, outputting them in time division and using the same ROM so as to discriminate the range in time division where each group numeral belongs. CONSTITUTION:The error counter 1 counts the number of inputted errors and latches it in a 16-bit latch circuit 2 as a 16-bit numeral. A 4-bit latch circuit 8 is cleared at the same time. A selector 6 divides a 16-bit error count into high-order 8-bit and a low-order 8-bit and gives the result to a ROM 7. The ROM 7 outputs the discriminating result of the low-order digit according to the threshold value. The circuit 8 latches it. Then the selector 6 selects the high-order 8-bit. The ROM 7 discriminates the input high-order digit according to the threshold value to output the error rate. Thus, the constitution of the error discrimination circuit is simplified to make the step change in the error rate flexible thereby decreasing the number of ROMs in use.
