PURPOSE:To make the titled device compact, and to execute exactly and quickly the rotation turning control of a roller of a tape driving device, by providing a clutch means for allowing or obstructing the turning of a roller/tape assembly, and a gear train driving means for rotating the first and the second rollers. CONSTITUTION:When a desired item on a tape 3 related to a roller 2d is called to a prescribed position,when a clutch release state is formed temporarily by operating a suitable function key 50 a energizing a solenoid 37, a roller/tape assembly 10 and clutch plates 33, 35 are turned clockwise through gears 31, 29 and a belt 29 by a pulse motor 30. When they are turned by 90 deg., a control pin 54 encounters the next projection 42 and it is engaged to corresponding notches 41, 44, therefore, the assembly 10 and the clutch plate are stopped, and the roller 2d is positioned at a prescribed position. At the same time, the rollers 1, 2 are rotated by a desired quantity, and a desired item can be observed visually at the prescribed position.
