PURPOSE:To obtain the titled aqueous dispersion excellent in shelf stability, by forming monodisperse liquid drops by contacting seed particles with an oil-soluble polymerization initiator and (meth)acrylate derivative in an aqueous medium and polymerizing the monomer component. CONSTITUTION:Monodisperse liquid drops are formed by contacting seed particles (a) with an oil-soluble polymerization initiator (b) and a monomer component (c) containing 40-10wt%, based on the total monomer, monomer of the formula (wherein R1 is H or methyl and R2 is a 6-18C alkyl) in an aqueous medium to allow the seed particles to absorb the oil-soluble polymerization initiator and the monomer component. Examples of the monomers of the formula includes 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and lauryl methacrylate. Examples of the seed particles, which are preferably those which can swell upon absorption of the monomer component, include styrene polymers and acrylic ester polymers.
