PURPOSE:To easily remove the surface strain of a press molded article in the stage of removing the strain in the plane parts of the press molded article with a reticulated plunger die compression molding machine by splitting the reticulated plunger die to plural pieces in such a manner that the compressive stresses corresponding to the distribution of the surface strain are exerted to the press molded article. CONSTITUTION:The plane parts 1a-1c around the recess 1d of the press molded article 1 have the surface strain and if the surface strain in the part 1b in particular is larger than the surface strain in the parts 1a, 1c, the surface strain is corrected by a die 3 having the reticulated projections 31 and a punch 2. The die 3 is constituted as the split dies 3a-3c and the split die 3b corresponding to the part 1b where the surface strain is large is projected by a height (h) from the other split dies 3a, 3c. The compressive stress Pb to be exerted to the press molded article via the die 3b is larger than the compressive stresses Pa, Pc to be exerted to the other parts 3a, 3c when the press molded article 1 is pressurized is this state by means of the punch 2 and the die 3. The stress removing effect is correspondingly intensified and the plane accuracy of the part 1b is made higher than the plane accuracy in the parts 1a, 1c and the surface strain is removed.
