PURPOSE:To perform safe drying work, by connecting an open air introducing passage opened to the open air at one end thereof to an evaporation chamber and providing a heat exchanger in said open air introducing passage. CONSTITUTION:An open air introducing passage 7 having an open air inlet 7a at one end thereof is connected to the first stage evaporation chamber 2' in a multistage flash evaporation type water making apparatus 1. A heat exchanger 8 for indirectly heating air flowing through the open air introducing passage 7 is provided on the way of said passage 7. In a vacuum generation apparatus 4, the steam exhaust passage 9 branched from the steam exhaust pipeline 4f of the air extracting second stage steam ejector 4e of said apparatus 4 is connected to the heat exchanger 8 as a heat source and a discharge pipe 10 with a silencer 11 is connected to the heat exchanger 8. By this method, the interior of the heat exchanger can be rapidly dried.
