Thin films made of amorphous soft ferromagnetic alloy, essentially based on cobalt, which are deposited on the solid substrate, characterised by the fact that they have a magnetostriction and a transverse anisotropy which are essentially zero and that they have in their plane a uniaxial anisotropy field greater than or equal to 80 oersted and a coercive field, in that the direction of the easy magnetisation axis, less than 3 oersted; used as soft ferromagnetic layers and in particular for making planar delay-line domain memories or multi-layer magnetic devices. <IMAGE>
