The invention relates to an electronic musical instrument which is manually operated by means of a variable resistor or a capacitor instead of by keys and/or strings. The explanation of all the electronics is omitted for the sake of simplification. Instead of being handled by a resistance network in the control generator, the control voltage or currents of the instrument electronics are handled by only one variable resistor which is connected to an apparatus which allows the current or voltage pick-up (for example (4) in Figure 1) to be rhythmically moved. This also rhythmically changes the value of resistor (1), and also the frequency of the sound, due to the varied control voltages or/and currents. The instruments played by means of a variable capacitor (for example Figure 3) have electronics in which the capacitor is connected into the output of the last VCO and into the input of the mixing adder following. This directly controls the preceding frequencies and makes them manually playable by means of a mechanical arrangement. This makes it possible to adapt or connect to the instrument all home-built designs and many synthesizers, effect devices and other additional electronics found in the market. The instrument has the capability (not shown in the drawing) of accepting all accessory connections as for amplifier, headphone, microphone connections and so forth and ...
