For transferring fry from containers 18 in a barge to cultivation cages which are wholly or partially submerged in water, a scraper device is used which consists of a frame 21, 22 on which a metal netting 23 has been stretched. The frame is mounted in such a way that it can be turned preferably about a fixed axis from a vertical position to an essentially horizontal position, all the fish rising to the level of the upper edge of the hull 10 where a funnel 27 is mounted on a hose. One end of the hose is immersed in the cage and the fish are flushed to the cage through the hose by means of a powerful stream of water which arrives at the funnel from a pump. Both the net frame and the funnel can be moved from one container to another. That part 12 of the barge which delimits the container has a cross section preferably in the form of a circular quadrant. <IMAGE>
