PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive body having superior sensitivity in both the visible and near infrared regions, satisfactory charge retaining characteristics such as electrostatic charging potential and dark attenuation, high printing resistance, high mechanical strength and superior optical fatigue resistance by forming a specified charge generating layer, a specified surface modifying layer, a specified charge transferring layer and a specified charge blocking layer. CONSTITUTION:The charge blocking layer 7 of a-SiC:H, a charge transferring layer 2 of a-SiC:H, a charge generating layer 6 having a laminate structure consisting of an a-Si:H layer 3 and an a-SiGe:H layer 5 and a surface modifying layer 4 of a-SiC:H are successively laminated on an electrically conductive substrate 1. The charge blocking layer 7 contributes largely toward preventing the implantation of carriers from the substrate 1 and keeping satisfactory surface potential. The layer 7 contains a group Va element and shows N-type electric conductivity or contains a group IIIa element and shows P-type electric conductivity. |
