PURPOSE:To eliminate a mounting error, by providing a mechanism for longitudinally moving a tool and a guide bush for guiding the tool to be built in a tool holder so as to eliminate the necessity for exchanging the guide bush corresponding to the tool at each time it is replaced. CONSTITUTION:A drilling machine, retracting a piston 3a in a cylinder 3 and retracting a tool 2 to decrease its protruding distance short from a guide bush 6, starts drilling. Thereafter the machine, advancing the tool 2 from the bush 6b as necessary, drills a hole in a required depth. The machine, eliminating the necessity for exchanging the guide bush corresponding to the tool because the tool can be protruded from the guide bush in a length as required, enables labor to be eliminated or reduced.
