PURPOSE:To obtain a flat head type printer of which the cover can not be opened in midway of recording, by constituting the same so that the lock of a cover is released only when a reciprocally moving carriage is present at a stand- by position. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 4 moves to right and a recording head 6 is driven to perform recording. When the projection 4a of the carriage 4 is separated from a lock lever 8, the lock lever 8 is revolved to a counterclockwise direction and the free end thereof is inlaid with the groove 22a of lock pin 22 and a cover 32 holds a closed state by the lock lever 8 and a lock pin 22. Unless one line recording is finished and the carriage 4 is returned to a stand-by position, the interruption of recording is not generated. When it is desirable to open a cover 32 on the way of printing, the carriage 4 may be returned to the stand-by position by depressing a printing stopping button and the lock lever 8 may be separated from the lock pin 22 through the projection 4a. |
