<p>A tape laying machine (10) comprises a head (11) comprising a tape presser assembly (21, 24, 30, 41) to apply a composite tape to a tape laydown surface. The presser assembly comprises an axle (33, 56) substantially parallel to the tape laydown surface, and a force divider mechanism (29, 34, 35, 36, 60, 70, 74, 78) is carried by the axle for dividing the frame pressing force (i.e. a force radially of the axle) into at least two separate radial components. The components are directed through movable elements (39, 40; 63, 64; 90, 91) into a distortable elastomeric pressure strip (42, 67, 94) which spans and connects the movable members.</p> |
