An anti-fouling marine paint comprises a pigment, a marine biocide which may or may not be identical to the pigment and a film-forming binder which is a hydrolysable polymer which contains units of the formula:
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="26" wi="36" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>and can be obtained by polymerisation of an alpha-aryl alkyl. ester having the formula:
