PURPOSE:To remove dirt properly and easily and to clean the inside of an original cover by setting up plural sheets on the inside of the original cover so that the sheets are superposed as laminated to be freely peeled off. CONSTITUTION:An original platen device (a) is constituted of an original platen 16 such as a glass and the original cover 17 set up on the upper surface of the original platen 16 so as to be freely opened/closed, an elastic body 17a for pressing an original is fitted to the original cover 17 and many white sheets 25- are superposed like a laminated layer on the outer surface of the elastic body 17a. The sheets 25 are made of synthetic resin having self-adhesiveness and adhered to each other so as to be freely peeled off. At the time of copying, the original cover 17 is opened, the original is set up on a prescribed range part of the upper surface of the original platen 16, the original cover 17 is closed, and the original is pressed and fixed through the inner sheets 25-. If the most outer sheet 25 allowed into contact with the original is dirtied due to the repeat of said operation, the dirty sheet is peeled off with fingers.
