<p>HYDROCARBON CONVERSION WITH ZSM-22 ZEOLITE Alkylated aromatic compounds, either alone or in a mixture with an alkylating agent, are disproportionated, alkylated or transalkylated in the presence of a ZSM-22 zeolite. The products of the reactions contain amounts of the para-isomer which are in excess of the equilibrium amounts of such isomer. The ZSM-22 zeolite is a crystalline zeolite material having an X-ray diffraction pattern as set forth in Table I of the specification. Alternatively, mixtures of 1,2-disubstituted and/or 1,3-disubstituted isomers along with the 1,4-disubstituted isomer of an aromatic compound can be contacted with the ZSM-22 zeolite under cracking conditions to thereby selectively crack the 1,4-disubstituted isomer and reduce the proportion of the 1,4-disubstituted isomer in the isomer mixture.</p> |
