PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of poor vacuum by sealing an electrode pin to the surface of a hole of a glass bulb after the surface of the hole is polished chemically, where the hole is bored with a stepped diamond drill and the hole and the electrode pin are formed so as to have a step. CONSTITUTION:By polishing the surface of the hole 27 chemically, the surface of the hole 27 is smoothed, microcracks generated during manufacturing process are eliminated and adhesion of the frit glass to the surface is made perfect, so as to be able to keep the specified vacuum. Also, by forming the hole 27 and the electrode pin 29 so as to have a step, the narrow space between the hole 27 and the electrode pin 29 is shortened, and the flow of the frit glass 28 under the burning process is improved, thus the electrode pin 29 is covered by the frit glass 28. Therefore, the mechanical strength of the sealed portion is increased and the accuracy of the location of the electrode pin 29 is improved. And the hole 27 can be easily bored by using the stepped diamond drill 20.
